- Also known as the “David Pogue” trick, if you press and hold the puncuation key, then slide your finger over to the character you want to add and release. That character will be inserted and your keypad will return to the alpha-keypad saving you some keystrokes.
- To use the CAPS LOCK feature, you have to first enable it in SETTINGS -> GENERAL -> KEYBOARD. To use it, simply double-tap on the shift key. The shift key will turn blue.
- Holing your finger over the text field will enable a small magnifying glass to appear. This lets you move back and forth between text and will let you place the cursor back to a spot to make a typing correction.
- The extra letter trick: Typing an additional letter can change the grammar of certain words. For example, adding the additional L to well (type: w-e-l-l-l ) will change it to we’ll. Add an L to H-E-L-L-L to get He’ll. Add an E to W-E-R-E-E for We’re.

- To stop an incoming call from ringing, press the Sleep/Wwake button.
- To send the call directly to VoiceMail, press the Sleep/Wake button twice.
- If you select a photo for a contact in your Address Book (on OSX), the picture will be thumbnail size, however if you select it from the iPhone, the selected photo is shown full screen for the caller ID
- Use subgroups for your contacts. Creating groups such as Friends, Family & Work can make it easier to find people in your contacts list.
